The Werke Horse album was written and driven by music notation software. In other words, sheet music was created before the music was recorded. The software converted the written notes to an audio guide track. The guide track was a digitized approximation of the music using synthesized musical instruments. We learned the music by listening to guide tracks or reading sheet music.
This video shows Gary and Billy Mason studying a guide track. It is a mechanical. artificial-sounding rendition of the music. It’s what people in corporate America might call a “concept”: what product managers create at the fuzzy front end of the product development process. https://www.instagram.com/p/BmJ1fFrhwIM/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
